    Job Description
    The Disability Services Coordinator is responsible for providing direct services related to disability accommodations for students enrolled at the college.

    Location
    Los Angeles, CA (Westchester)

    Essential Duties Summary
    Ensures that appropriate processes are in place to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and inquiries from students regarding compliance with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and other applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding discrimination on the basis of disability.
    • Maintains records of student disability and accommodation issues and resolutions.
    • Meets directly with students and families to review and process disability services requests.
    • Advises and provides instruction to faculty to ensure compliance within the classroom setting.
    • Develops communication plans and recordkeeping requirements for disability services, accommodations, policies, and demographics that are readily available.
    • Maintains best practices concerning the rights of persons with disabilities and provides options for providing reasonable accommodations.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education required.
    • A minimum of 1 years of experience in an academic setting in the area of disability services or student personnel administration is required.
    • Demonstrated organizational, planning, strategic, relationship building, and critical thinking skills are necessary.
    • Individual must have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Background and training in conducting sensitive and confidential investigations is preferred.
    • Experience working with disability services including management of documentation to identify appropriate accommodations is preferred.
    • Knowledge of relevant laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is preferred.
    • Certificate in disability related area.
    • Demonstrated leadership in creation of programs and implementation of policies.
    • Demonstrated competency in diversity, equity and inclusion issues, programming and policy.
    • Demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting trends in higher education. Ability to communicate interculturally.
