    Do you have a passion for helping individuals? Are you a Veteran or eligible spouse (as defined in Title 38, United States Code, Section 4101) that wants to assist Veterans get back into the workforce? Can you translate military jargon into civilian terms?

    Under general supervision, the Local Veteran Employment Representative (LVER) specialist will perform the duties, roles and responsibilities as described and mandated in the Training and Employment Guidance Letters (TEGLs) guidance provided to the workforce system as well as duties outlined in 38 U.S.C. 4104(b).

    By utilizing a collaborative team approach with America's Job Center of California staff, the LVER must serve as an active member of the "Business Services Team" which are related to outreach to the employer community within two counties. The LVER will perform duties described in other policy and program directives governing the Jobs for Veterans' State Grant (JVSG).

    Position exists in Salinas, CA ARU 045. Overnight travel may be required. Must be willing to travel to other office within the cluster (Capitola, Santa Cruz County) as needed.

    Background Investigation Requirement

    The position(s) may require an applicant to pass a background investigation. However, applicants will not be asked to provide information about a conviction history unless they receive a conditional offer of employment.

    The department will make an individualized assessment of whether the conviction history has a direct or adverse relationship with the specific duties of the job and the work performed by the department. The department will consider potential mitigating factors, including, but not limited to, evidence and extent of rehabilitation, recency, nature and seriousness, and age at the time of the offense(s).

    The investigation will consist of completion of a personal history statement and fingerprinting checks with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, and/or local law enforcement agencies.
