  • Family Service Agency has proudly served DeKalb County since 1956, and we are home to five social service programs dedicated to strengthening people and communities through hope, healing, empowerment, and engagement.

    • Children's Advocacy Center: We conduct a one-time, child-sensitive forensic interview with children who have experienced physical or sexual abuse and provide wrap-around services for the entire family, including counseling, advocacy, and resources. Our team offers evidence-based, developmentally-appropriate prevention education to youth and adults in the community. We operate DeKalb County's 24/7 runaway-lockout crisis team, and we respond to at-risk youth who refuse to return home or are out of the control of their parents.
    • Youth Programming: We provide one-on-one mentoring to at-risk youth in the community who need a positive role model. Our team offers social-emotional learning services in DeKalb County schools on various topics, including bullying, substance abuse, and emotional management.
    • Center for Counseling: We provide inclusive counseling services for individuals, couples, families, and groups. Many of our clinicians are trained in trauma-informed counseling modalities, including EMDR, TF-CBT, and AF-CBT; however, we provide services to everyone regardless of gender identity, age, diagnosis, or life stage.
    • Senior Services: We operate four senior activity sites across DeKalb County. These sites provide recreational, emotional, and physical well-being programs to adults over 55 to encourage nutritional, creative, and cognitive success.
    • Community Action Program: We provide case management and financial assistance programs to low-income individuals and families. The goal of Community Action is to lend a helping hand and guide people to the road of self-sufficiency through family-centered services, including skill-building, resources, referrals, advocacy, and healing.

    Why Work at FSA?

    • Facility Dog: We are home to a specially trained Labrador retriever named Laddie! He received training at Duo Dogs, Inc. in St. Louis, MO, and now works with our clients and staff to create a calming environment!
