Become a part of IGN Entertainment as a Director of Engineering. You'll play a part in a dynamic group that leads a strategic portfolio of properties and business units. You will lead a department of Engineering Managers and Engineers as we integrate IGN with Humble Bundle and other newly acquired assets.
This is an internal-facing role where your customers are your coworkers, including people in Publishing, Commerce and Subscriptions, Advertising, Game Help, Sales, and Marketing. This role is an excellent fit if you have led through M&A growth cycles and architected integrations across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities
Define technological strategy, have it validated and mobilize the engineering department around it
Define the trade-offs to be made between time, quality, and resources, while balancing priorities of different business needs
Develop and grow the Engineering team; recruit, hire, and mentor outstanding technical talent to fully realize the vision
Contribute to the management of change, organization of technical teams, the clarification of the roles of the technical teams and ensure alignment with the technical vision
Define and implement working methods adapted to the needs of the team and partner game titles
Challenge team members to ensure the relevance of technical decisions
Management: organize, configure, and evaluate engineering staff
Work closely with executives on defining a multi-year technical strategy, operational plan, and perform on the plan
Responsible for leading the technology budget and making investments both internally and externally to deliver on technological needs
10 years of proven experience in the software engineering space and high-level architecture
8 years leading impactful engineering teams
Experience working in cross platform technology services and support (e.g., online services, software, web technologies, ecommerce)
Able to anticipate and analyze intricate software challenges and make clear roadmaps and recommendations that achieve objectives
Can communicate sophisticated concepts with audiences at many levels of technical ability. Confirmed experience collaborating with team members in many creative subject areas and across multiple locations and time zones
Experience leading, empowering and inspiring teams. Invites different points of views before making critical decisions.
Strong at resolving conflicts and building consensus with many team members

Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $210,000 to $235,000, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
