The Instructional Designer II conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Being an Instructional Designer II develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. In addition, Instructional Designer II writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Being an Instructional Designer II occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • AIS is looking for a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist in several areas in Georgia to join our team of independent contractors. Orientation and Mobility Specialists are itinerant and work in local school divisions to provide quality services to students with visual impairments and blindness. Part-time and full-time in-person opportunities are available!

    The Orientation and Mobility Specialist function as members of a student’s educational team to provide comprehensive assessments and related services to school aged students. The Orientation and Mobility Specialist assists in the development and implementation of IEPs specific to visual impairments. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of assessment and instructional practices, evidence-based research, recommended best practices, technologies available for low- and high-tech travel, and expected roles and responsibilities of an Orientation and Mobility Specialist within a school environment.

    Qualifications: 

    • Must hold a Professional Certification and/or licensure in Orientation and Mobility
    • Preferred work-related experience as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist

     

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Considerable knowledge of special education regulations, policies, and procedures
    • Experience writing and implementing IEPs
    • Experience conducting and writing Orientation and Mobility assessments and recommendations
    • Working knowledge of travel skills for students with blindness or low vision
    • Experience providing consultation and training to teachers and service providers relating to visual impairments
    • Excellent human relations, interpersonal communications, conflict resolution, organizational and planning skills are required
    • Comprehensive knowledge of characteristics of individuals with a variety of disabilities especially visual impairments
    • The ability to recognize and respond to individual student differences
    • The ability to work in a collaborative and cooperative manner with parents, co-workers, school staff and service providers
