Purpose of Position
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for performing general HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, safety, payroll and employment law compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads recruitment effort for all salaried exempt and non-exempt personnel and conducts new-employee orientations and on-boarding when needed.
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
- Develop and Maintain job descriptions, work with corporate officers on compensation strategies.
- Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Deal appropriately with employee-related issues in a confidential manner.
- Responsible for the daily processes of employee data.
- Manage and support HR Generalist who processes and administers all leave of absence requests, disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, FMLA.
- Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
- Manage/conduct employee training and orientation programs.
- Conduct routine salary administration tasks, providing advice to managers on the wages and salaries of all employees.
- Assist with all plant safety programs and workers compensation rules and regulations.
- Manage safety incident reports and lead a Safety Committee.
- Assist with payroll processing and garnishments, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Discretion with sensitive information.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of office product software such as Microsoft Office and PayCor.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Ability to follow and adhere to established processes.
- Effective and professional communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college; or 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
