    Responsibilities:

     

    • Maintain department schedules, finalize time clock entries for staff prior to payroll deadlines, hold regular meetings with the department staff, and ensure staffing levels are in line with approved labor expense to sales
    • Train staff in all aspects of the department, including customer service, ordering, and pricing, stocking, storage, rotation, displays, safe work habits, receiving and handling freight and invoices
    • Ensure sufficient stock, attractive, accurate point-of-sale signage and eye-catching product displays in meat, fish, and poultry cases
    • Partner with Culinary leadership team helping to develop and maintain training programs ensuring 100% compliance with all food safety and sanitation efforts while also adhering to all Idaho food laws
    • Maintain strict job-related confidentiality, attend trainings as necessary
    • Manage workload and prioritize tasks
    • Develop a strong workplace morale by encouraging employees, helping them develop professionally by achieving individual goals, and objectives
    • Model leadership and work ethic by demonstrating objectivity, neutrality, and calmness under pressure
    • Uphold the vision of the Boise Co-Op, including emulating the mission statement and core values
    • Implement procedures for product handling to ensure proper rotation of displays and optimal stock levels
    • Maximize merchandising opportunities by building engaging, well-planned, product sets/displays that draw in consumers and ensures that all products are accurately labeled for description, ingredients, and price
    • Working with category management, negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery
    • Enforce department procedures to ensure safe food handling, preparation, sanitation, and security procedures, Reports potentially unsafe conditions
    • Work with the department and leadership team to develop new products that reflect trending ingredients
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the menu, vendors, products, market availability, and delivery schedules
    • Ensure that all display units, coolers, work areas, storage areas, and floors are in a clean and orderly condition and meet all Health Department requirements


    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Management, Service Operations Management, or a related field is preferred
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully lead the department may be considered
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and develop positive relationships with shift team by addressing individual motivation, needs, and concerns
    • Experience planning, developing, and implementing systems, procedures and policies
    • History of supervising and motivating staff, working collaboratively, and effectively delegating responsibility
    • Ability to handle complex issues and problems
    • Willingness to work more than forty hours per week, including weekends, holidays, and vacations coverage
    • Knowledge of principles, practices, theories and objectives of leadership, supervision, and training
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage communications, learn quickly, and build relationships with all levels of the organization
    • Ability to handle multiple demands, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
    • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Abel to communicate standards, expectations, policy changes and product knowledge to staff
    • Must comply with all company and departmental policies and procedures

    Environment: Work is performed primarily in a grocery store setting with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.
