Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning and strategy for live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the goals, success metrics, and messaging for events. Being a Meeting/Event Director implements best practices and develops planning standards, policies. and procedures. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director develops a network of vendors. Approves the final selection of venues, catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     As the Director of Assessment for the Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment you will support systematic planning and change across the Institute by administering a comprehensive, continual, and multi-dimensional assessment program of student learning outcomes and evaluation of academic programs, collaborating with departments to integrate assessment and evaluation efforts across campus, and integrating assessment activities and results with accreditation processes. You will provide professional leadership of the assessment process by communicating the purposes of outcomes assessment, assisting departments and program faculty in the development and delineation of assessment plans, assisting in the selection of appropriate measures and methods for assessing learning outcomes, and analyzing and communicating the results of assessments conducted.

    You will oversee the Institute Student Learning Outcomes including serving as a member of the Commission on the Assessment of Student Outcomes, managing the collection and assessment of student artifacts, stewarding the Institute rating process, and in collaboration with the faculty, providing guidance for continuous improvement of the outcomes. You will coordinate the administration, implementation and continuous improvement of the Student Evaluation of Teaching and Learning Instrument. You will serve as a member of the Institutional Research Planning and Assessment team and assist with setting strategic priorities and direction of the department. You will help ensure department goals align with Institute priorities and participate in the budgeting process by identifying project needs and priorities. You will serve on various groups and committees and represent the vice president and department at various meetings/functions as needed.

    Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in STEM Education Research or Assessment and five to seven years of related experience. Experience in technical report writing, assessment processes, computer applications, research, and statistical methods is required.

    The ability to read, analyze, and interpret the content of assessment data, statistical information, written instructions for grant proposal writing, and technical procedures is essential. Must be able to write grant proposals and develop assessment instruments and assessment plans; the ability to effectively present information to technical and non-technical audiences is essential.

    In addition to the qualifications, preferred candidates will have a master’s degree or doctoral degree in STEM Education Research or Assessment and seven years of related experience are preferred. The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists is strongly preferred. The ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical, statistical, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables is strongly desired.
