Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning and strategy for live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the goals, success metrics, and messaging for events. Being a Meeting/Event Director implements best practices and develops planning standards, policies. and procedures. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director develops a network of vendors. Approves the final selection of venues, catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Meeting/Event Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Essential Functions and Primary Duties:
Facilitates client meetings, client presentations and internal team meetings.
Independently determines methodologies and approach for project.
Lead the development of client deliverables including written documents.
Manage timelines including completion of client deliverables (Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, etc.).
Ensures all work products are technically peer reviewed and submitted for consulting review.
Actively communicates project status updates with internal team (junior and senior members).
Act as a resource for support staff.
Supports business development activities.
