Oncology Services Director plans and directs all aspects of an organization's oncology services policies, standards, and programs. Responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and interns. Being an Oncology Services Director ensures oncology clinical programs are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Researches and studies current medical publications and data on new treatments and practices to ensure high quality clinical service offerings. Additionally, Oncology Services Director advises non-medical management on clinical and patient related matters and policies. Requires a MD. Typically reports to top management. The Oncology Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. • Schedules all follow-up appointments in the practice management system following the provider order and/or office protocol in a high-volume clinic setting.
• Cancels/reschedules appointments according to patient or physician scheduling changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
• Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
• Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
• Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office. Covers for other front office functions as requested.
• Schedule outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions upon request. May obtain necessary authorization and pre-certification as required.
• May communicate to patient about tests being scheduled and potential prep work needed, inquiring about test specifics from necessary parties and gathering patient information as needed
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. At least eighteen (18) months front medical office receptionist experience with insurance forms and scheduling software required. Knowledge of this practice's personnel, daily routines, and scheduling a plus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
