Organizational Development Director directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures. Approves change management initiatives and suggests enhancements to existing programs. Being an Organizational Development Director oversees the development of programs to build human capital and a strong employee development culture. Reviews key performance metrics to enable accurate and valid measurement of workforce performance and to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, Organizational Development Director proposes changes to organizational structure to leverage talent and provide development opportunities to key leaders in the organization. Develops systematic collection and evaluation of performance metrics. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Organizational Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Organizational Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position Summary:
    The director of development is responsible for increasing major gift opportunities for the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences (CALS). Specific responsibilities include management of assigned prospects with cultivation activities, face-to-face visits, proposal development, identification and solicitation of major gifts primarily ranging from $25,000 to $1,000,000 from individuals, corporations, commodity groups, and foundations. This position is a key member of the college/unit fundraising team and works collaboratively to achieve fundraising goals for the college/unit.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree
    • 3 years full-time professional experience in fundraising or related areas
    • Experience working in an environment dependent on developing and maintaining positive relationships



    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Masters degree
    • 5 years full-time professional experience in fundraising or related area
    • Experience with volunteer boards and committees
    • Public relations or marketing experience
    • Strong knowledge of development activities, preferably in higher education or in a college of agriculture
    • Experience or education in one of the colleges (CALS) disciplines
    • Experience in grant writing
    • Experience in effectively managing multiple priorities
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Effective organizational and marketing skills
    • Familiarity with database computer systems and applications, preferably with customer relationship management systems
