Purchasing Manager manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Manager collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Manager oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Opportunity:  The Divisional Merchandise Manager will drive the overall merchandising strategy for multiple product departments and categories.  The ideal candidate must demonstrate management level foresight and be able to drive decisions within the framework of successful product assortment development and execution of strategic plans and hit financial targets to drive the business for their respective categories.  This candidate must have strong leadership experience, proven strength in cross-enterprise collaboration, and an entrepreneurial mindset.  

    What You Will Do:

    • Execute a profitable merchandise strategy, in partnership with the Vice President of Merchandising for the designated product departments
    • Direct and manage Sr Buyers, Buyers and Merchandising support staff
    • Train and mentor/coach around product development, assortment and margin management, strategic financial planning, new category development and vendor management and negotiations
    • Manage merchandise, pricing and marketing strategies to maximize sales and profitability
    • Stay current on emerging trends by performing market analysis, shopping the competition, attending trade shows domestically, and finding inspiration from a variety of style and design sources
    • Orchestrate pricing strategy and execution in collaboration with the cross-functional Pricing team
    • Negotiate with suppliers to secure the lowest total delivered cost including volume discounts, rebates, marketing funds and/or other applicable allowances
    • Create detailed seasonal plans to ensure planned sales and profitability through allocation and inventory availability, promotional plans/marketing strategy and other key components
    • Interface with e-commerce, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure positive sales and profitable outcome
    • Lead the category review and planning process utilizing cross functional resources and multiple data resources to achieve optimum sales performance
    • Develop and present to senior management the business strategies, marketing plans, merchandise assortments to drive profitable sales and company growth expectations and strategic goals

    The Experience You Will Bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a general area of study or 7 years of relevant experience in Merchandising may be considered in lieu of a degree
    • 4 years of experience managing a buying team, including hiring, development, and motivating a team
    • 7 years of retail experience in Fashion categories (Apparel, Shoes, Accessories, Jewelry or Handbags) covering a range of experience from vendor management, negotiation, forecasting and planning, buying, merchandising responsibilities
    • Advanced proficiency in using e-commerce systems and product catalog management tools
    • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
    • Understanding of margin planning, pricing and promotional elasticity, product planning and forecasting, inventory productivity measures
    • Ability to develop and maintain strong vendor partnerships and demonstrated business success working with top tier Fashion brands and distribution partners
