Garden Center Merchandising (GCM) Director Job Description:

Duties:

GCM Director is a leadership position that is responsible to deliver and or exceed sales and profit targets in our merchandising channel. The director will provide strategic leadership for managers and merchandiser teams and drive innovation in merchandising live goods with Catoctin’s retail partners. This role will ensure that Walmart’s merchandising expectations are met, ensure adequate store staffing, and to supervise and develop Regional Managers throughout the year. This position is focused on developing strategies to increase point of sales (POS) and Sale Thru for the stores Catoctin services using best merchandising practices.

Requirements, but not limited to the following:

· Lead the merchandising team with full ownership

· Responsible for the financial business management of the merchanding team analyzing cost of goods shipped to merchandising expenses

· Ability to work independently, multi-task and problem solve

· Strong verbal skills required to communicate with merchandising team and Walmart store managers and Market Managers.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

· Partnering with Field Operation Manager (FOM) to ensure RMs and merchandisers are meeting the fundamental of merchandising and “best practices” are being implemented

· Strong understanding of how to leverage sales reports to effectively communicate to stakeholders opportunities at store level.

· Reviewing and acting on merchandising and store activity submitted on Catoctin’s Retail Management System.

· Ensure Walmart stores meet seasonal KPIs as communicated by Catoctin.

· Ensure the merchandising program falls within established budget requirements.

· Implement policies, procedures and ensure proper systems are used to support adherence to Catoctins merchandising requirements.

· Coach RMs and provide leadership development through regular store visits and frequent communication.

· Weekly communication with Walmart management at and above store level (Market Managers and Regional Managers, Home Office)

· Seasonal communication to secondary live good vendors on merchandising status of their product.

· Weekly one-on-one cadence with RM.

· Weekly store visits to ensure compliance with Walmart and Catoctin’s expectations.

· Must be able to bend, pull, and lift 30lbs when visiting stores.

· Must have a valid driver’s license in the state you reside, a good driving record and reliable transportation

· Complete Regional Managers evaluations and assessments as needed.

· Interview and recruit new RMs as needed.

Qualifications:

· BA/BS degree, preferably in business management

· 5 years in category/brand management

· 5 years in management experience

· Demonstrated success in cross functional leadership and project management.

· Demonstrated communication skills across a variety of communication methods and tools.

· Demonstrated analytical skills.

· Proven financial management skills.

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
