    Summary :

    Under the general supervision of the Director, Quality the Risk Management Specialist/ RN serves as a primary point of contact for potential and reported risk events at AR Gould Hospital. The Specialist will assist the Director in coordinating in-depth risk assessments of all hospital departments and for overseeing the ongoing education of hospital and medical personnel related to risk prevention. The Specialist will participate in patient safety and similar initiatives and will be designated at the organizational Patient Safety Officer. The Specialist will work closely with Human Resources and the organizational Safety Officer to ensure employee events are carefully managed and reported. The Specialist will have access to highly confidential and proprietary patient, employee, and/or business information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements, and the highest level of ethical and legal standards. The Specialist is responsible for the management of all patient and employee safety and/or security events, potential events, or other risks to the organization. The Specialist is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position and conducts all job responsibilities according to the mission and values of AR Gould. This position will be required to collaborate closely with the clinical teams within AR Gould Hospital and it’s outlying departments. To facilitate this process, the Risk Management Specialist will need to maintain competency in at least 1 clinical department. This includes occasional shift coverage in order to assist to meet patient needs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manages all sentinel event reporting, process, and follow-up. • Serves as directed on Northern Light Health (NLH) system risk committees and work groups. • Completes all risk data gathering and reporting as requested by AR Gould & NLH committees and leadership. • Serves as the point of contact at AR Gould for risk and employee reporting in RL Solutions. • Oversees risk and employee event reporting ensuring accuracy and completeness in documentation and follow up. o Identifies trends from analysis o Actively participates on improvement teams using the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan as a guideline o Partners with the Safety Officer and actively participates in Environment of Care Committee o Uses quality improvement processes such as FMEA or RCA2 to assist in the exploration of issues that may arise o Participates as needed in staff development activities to support risk management activities o Prepares periodic summaries of risk event data and provides reports to various internal groups and committees • Staff Development o Assumes responsibility of own professional growth and on-going development o Seeks opportunities to meet learning needs through seminars, certification, and literature o Participates in external networking through regional groups and training • Maintains competency in at least 1 clinical department to assist with patient care needs as needed. • Other Duties
