The IT Service Desk Manager ensures team members are trained and coached on effective methods to research, troubleshoot, deliver solutions, and access the current product or technical updates. Manages the staff and operations of an organization's technical help desk. Being an IT Service Desk Manager identifies and gathers key metrics to analyze the help desk performance and identify problem areas. Trains the team on the help desk systems and tools to identify, document, track, and resolve reported problems. In addition, IT Service Desk Manager monitors and measures service metrics and volume to develop standards, improvements, or changes to workflows and resource allocation. Acts as an escalation point and facilitator for severe, critical, or unique issues. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The IT Service Desk Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as an IT Service Desk Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Technical Support Specialist (Life Cycle Cost Estimate) opportunity located at the Savannah River Site.

    Work Location: Aiken, SC

    Technical Support Specialist (LCCE)-

    The primary purpose of this position is to support the update of the Life Cycle Cost Estimate (LCCE) for the Surplus Plutonium Disposition Program and programmatic re-baselining activities. The Technical Support Specialist will support multiple integrated projects and programs, interface directly with project and functional team members at SRS and across the DOE/NNSA complex to integrate activities which support programmatic requirements in support of the Surplus Plutonium Disposition Program. They will also analyze technical and programmatic information and documents implementing or affecting programmatic requirements.

    Responsibilities:

    • Write and manage documents and coordinate reviews.
    • Develop and review supporting spreadsheets.
    • Track progress and monitor status vs. schedule.
    • Be involved with risk analysis, sensitivity analysis, external review coordination, management review coordination, NNSA review coordination, technology readiness assessments, and TMP development.
    • Participate in program/project teams affecting execution of strategic program priorities.
    • Support initiatives focused on strategic programmatic or tactical execution issue resolution.
    • Maintain awareness of and contribute to schedules, performance monitoring status, and management reports.
    • Provide timely feedback and recommended solutions to management to improve or mitigate problems affecting execution and coordination between multiple sites.
    • Provide written and verbal analysis and recommendations to management.
    • Identify effective solutions, including implementing requirements.

    Education:

    • Ph. D. or degree with specialized training OR bachelor specialized training applicable to special needs of the task OR professional certification.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience supporting commercial or federal science, nuclear engineering, or other task relevant programs or projects.
    • Ten (10) or more years in a management role in Project Management, Program Management, Operations, and/or Engineering.
    • Familiarity with administrative and technical procedures, practices, and processes affecting programmatic and facility activities.
    • Ability to analyze technical and programmatic issues.
    • Baseline development, control, reporting, and change control processes.
    • Experience with multiple integrated projects and programs.
    • Effective interpersonal skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Effective use of computer software including work processing, email, spreadsheets, power point, and databases.

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Possessed active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two (2) years.
    • Internal or external review team participation.
    • Experience in Life Cycle Cost Estimate development and Plutonium processing.

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Travel to partner sites (LANL, WIFF, PANTEX) may be required.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
