Veterinary Technician assists veterinarian with exams, surgeries, and first aid. Collects and documents case history and treatment details. Being a Veterinary Technician monitors vital signs and condition of animals being treated and provides nursing care. Takes X rays, EKG, Ultrasound, and performs various lab test including urinalysis and blood counts. Additionally, Veterinary Technician depending on state regulations, may administer anesthesia, injections, and perform dental prophylaxis, catheterization, and other procedures under supervision of a veterinarian. Instructs pet owners on how to administer medication and other animal care skills. Typically requires an associate degree. Depending on state, may require RVT certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Veterinary Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. We are seeking an individual with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, compassion, strong computer skills, the ability to multi-task, and be dedicated to their profession. The individual must be TEAM oriented, highly motivated, take direction well, and be able to work evening and weekend shifts. Moderate lifting and the ability to move efficiently is necessary.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting veterinarians with patient appointments and in the care of patients
Recording patient medical history electronically
Drawing blood and perform testing
Filling Prescriptions
Prepping patients for surgery
Anesthesia monitoring
Cleaning the kennel and caring for boarding / hospitalized patients
Entering client charges into the computer
Answering telephones
Scheduling appointments
Educating clients on disease and parasite prevention
Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Pay wage will be based on level of experience with benefits included.
