This Director of Workforce Development Solutions provides leadership and management of workforce training and continuing education. The Manager position promotes a positive environment and supervises the staff and functions of the workforce training and continuing education department of M State.
Supervisory responsibility includes assigning and controlling flow of work, managing procedures, training employees, hiring and disciplinary actions and performance evaluations. This position serves on the M State Management Team. Responsibilities:
· Lead the delivery of responsive workforce training and development. This includes providing operational management of workforce training and continuing education part-time, weekend, evening and off-campus training, and apprenticeship programs, certifications, while promoting, enhancing, and maintaining all functions and assignments, and implementing policies and procedures that fulfill the philosophy, mission, and goals of the College.
· Create and maintain business relationships that increase training revenue, including maintaining and sustaining an individual book of business (contract training).
· Administer the Workforce Training and Continuing Education budget.
· Manage the Workforce Development Team, continuing to evaluate the structure to optimize the sales effort, seeking efficiencies and advocating for resources that drive revenue growth.
· Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. Must be able to travel to meetings across the region.
· Exercise supervisory authority so that applicable labor agreements and plans are equitably administered, and employees will effectively perform assigned job duties to achieve annual objectives.
· Create strategies that will identify and sustain a cadre or qualified instructors to deliver training in current and future programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of experience in training, sales management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
· Experience designing, developing, and delivering training that engages learners and achieve learning objectives;
· Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously, create clear and attainable project objectives, build project requirements, oversee the cost, time and scope of projects, manage project constraints, and communicate progress and end results;
· Strong ability to cultivate/manage relationships and engage a range of stakeholders (business/industry partners, employers, Non-Profit Community Based Organization, City, County, and State Agencies.);
· Ability to accurately manage budgets, forecast needs, allocate dollars to budget categories and monitor expenditures;
· Effective written and verbal communication skills sufficient to participate in discussions and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel;
· Demonstrated inter-cultural competency.
· Demonstrate an ability to motivate team members creating an environment of achievement, trust, respect and accountability by setting clear roles and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in a for-profit business setting;
· Minimum of three years of experience with staff management and supervision including hiring, work assignments, professional development, performance evaluations, and coaching;
· Previous experience managing grants. Knowledge of grant management techniques, requirements, and expectations.
