The General Operations Director implements operational policies, objectives, and initiatives. Directs and oversees an organization's day-to-day operations, typically through subordinate operations managers. Being a General Operations Director evaluates and optimizes current and proposed operational systems and procedures to gain efficiencies and to minimize risk. Executes operating plans and tactics to attain short- and long-term financial and mission-critical operational goals. In addition, General Operations Director ensures compliance with standards and regulations. Monitors financial and operational metrics to measure achievement of organizational objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The General Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Working as a General Operations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
