Job Description for Mechanical Product Engineering Supervisor

Mechanical Product Engineering Supervisor oversees the design and development of mechanical industrial products, components, and systems to meet required specifications and standards. Analyzes and evaluates product requirements, objectives, and constraints and reviews technical and functional specifications for mechanical products to ensure effectiveness. Being a Mechanical Product Engineering Supervisor implements guidelines and processes to develop effective solutions that meet the outlined specifications and manufacturing cost requirements. Utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop mechanical manufacturing parts or components. Additionally, Mechanical Product Engineering Supervisor communicates conceptual designs to stakeholders and collaborates with production to troubleshoot design implementation issues. Assists with the entire production process from fabrication, modification, and assembly. Leads prototype testing to ensure the integrity of results and consistency of testing. Oversees the routine testing and maintenance of crucial mechanical systems and industrial equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and optimal functionality. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Product Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Mechanical Product Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
