Shipfitter lays-out and fabricates metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames within the hull of ship for riveting or welding. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Shipfitter is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
