AbelCine is a leading digital cinema and HD technology supplier to the motion picture, broadcast and new media industries. We offer sales, rental, service and training to the professional production community with offices in NY, CHI and LA. Our NY headquarters, based in Industry City, Brooklyn is currently seeking a Service Manager to join our organization. This position manages the overall business and development of the department and its employees while managing the day to day operations and its' employees on a day to day basis. This includes assigning and distributing jobs to technicians as well as working with clients to properly manage their expectations and with vendors to provide the best possible support for our needs. The position is also responsible to generate weekly and monthly performance reporting for the department and management, as well as overseeing and reporting warranty activity with select vendors. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, hardworking individual to participate in our exciting and fast paced company.

This key position will encompass the following responsibilities:  

  • Manage the overall business and growth of the Service Department
  • Manage day to day department operations, shop technicians, administrator and expeditor
  • Ensure a high level of customer service by directly interfacing with clients to address any day to day issues and problems
  • Upkeep and prioritize the service job list to ensure highest possible utilization rate for department technicians
  • Interface with internal departments to handle service issues and interdepartmental service processes
  • Generate weekly and quarterly performance reports 
  • Collaborate with senior management and marketing to achieve business goals
  • Aid in development of new services and keep current the services and maintenance that we offer for cameras, optics and other related products that we support
  • Continually monitor, measure, and improve processes 

Requirements for the successful applicant:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role
  • Familiarity with professional HD cameras, lenses, accessories and workflow
  • Ability to do first level mechanical and electronic analysis and troubleshooting for repairs that come in for service
  • Strong leadership capabilities including the ability to influence others to achieve results in a positive, constructive manner
  • Ability to analyze customers' requirements and propose effective solutions
  • Exceptional and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem resolution and solution finding skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to effectively interact with a broad range of individuals
  • Organization, efficiency and attention to detail
  • Production experience in TV or film
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong computer skills and Macintosh experience. Experience with Filemaker Pro and Salesforce are a plus
  • Ability to lift and manipulate cases weighing up to 40 pounds

This is a full time salaried, exempt position.
