ACCO Brands is seeking a Category Advisor in our Bentonville, AR office for one of our largest retailers, Wal-Mart.

This role directly supports initiatives determined by the retailer through data and market analysis of the categories they are responsible for. This role is also expected to be a key team member assisting in the development of category, segmentation strategies to grow Walmart’s total business in the specific categories assigned.  The Category Advisor position directly supports Walmart and day-to-day activity is guided by category buyers.  The candidate is responsible for ensuring the following activities are accomplished:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: 

• Provide objective, accurate, and fact-based advice and recommendations to Walmart regarding business methods, assortment, modular development, and/or other related services that promote and maximize Walmart’s goals and objectives for the category.
• Create modulars via software package. Analyze and develop modulars based on past sales, trends, and other market inputs.
• Support the buyer’s annual business plan for the category. Measure and report performance of plan.
• Gather and interpret competitive market intelligence (from Wal-Mart's perspective)
• Provide reporting on a regularly and ad hoc as required. Prepare and deliver fact-based recommendations
• Use good business judgment to provide Walmart advice and recommendations designed to help grown sales in the Category as a whole.
• Develop and maintain relationships and day-to-day working rapport with key customer contacts.  Work across departments to ensure all groups are meeting deadlines and following strategic plans
• Maintain strict adherence to Walmart’s confidentiality and Category Advisor Services Agreement

Position Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Quantitative discipline or related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Category Advisor with some combination of category management, forecasting, inventory management, and POS analysis required
• Strong working knowledge of category management tools (Retail Link, JDA space planning software, NPD syndicated category data, etc.)
• Experience working with Walmart required
• The ability to independently manipulate large amounts of data within all Microsoft Office environments
• Consumer packaged goods knowledge is desirable
• Strong organizational skills with a disciplined approach to managing processes on a day to day basis respecting defined authority levels.
• Strong customer service skills including effective communication
• Local candidates preferred
