What does a Customer Success Manager do at companies like AMERICAN MARKETING ASSOCIATION?

We’re actively seeking a Customer Success Manager to join the Commercial Alliances department in the Alliances division! 

Customer Success Manager Core Job Responsibilities

  • Sells all advertising and sponsorship opportunities on behalf of the AMA, including but not limited to: webinar sponsorships, print advertising, banner ads, newsletter ads, email marketing, directories, live and virtual events, and other offerings as they are developed.
  • Responsible for growing existing customer base and landing net new clients to meet or exceed monthly sales quota.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required to effectively interact with sophisticated clients and prospects from business and academia.   
  • Conducts needs analysis and positions AMA products and services as solutions to existing clients and prospects.  
  • Develops and maintains a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, LinkedIn, direct mail, email, and networking. Sources potential targets and pursues all appropriate sales leads through inbound and outbound calls, face-to-face contact, etc.
  • Ability to develop proposals, price quotes, negotiate deals, and provide clients with performance reports and maintain on-going communication to guarantee high levels of client satisfaction. 
  • Maintains detailed records of all sales and prospecting activities including leads, opportunities, sales calls, proposals, closed sales, and follow-up activities in Salesforce on an ongoing basis. 
  • Proactively establishes and maintains effective working team relationships with all supporting departments& cross-functional teams. 
  • Should be self-motivated, ability to work independently, and strong attention to detail with ability to handle multiple priorities. 
  • Completing other special projects as assigned.
  • May require light travel (<10%).

What You Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university. 
  • Minimum of five three years of professional work experience in a B2B strategic, consultative sales role including a proven track record of exceeding sales quota.
  • Cross-platform experience selling to both agencies and client directly 
  • Experience coordinating and selling integrated media/live event programs.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize as needed. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), working knowledge of Microsoft Windows systems, and PC desktop systems.
  • Experience with a robust Customer Relationship Management platform such as Salesforce or similar program. 

What You May Also Have

  • Experience using LinkedIn Navigator and PointDrive. 
  • Experience using video conferencing software (Zoom, WebEx, etc.) to make sales presentations.
  • Formal sales training (Dale Carnegie, Richardson, Huthwaite).
