The RTC/DSP (Residential Training Coordinator / Direct Support Professional) is responsible for the health and safety of ASC's ICF Residents. RTC's is responsible for providing direct care to intellectually and/or developmentally disabled individuals in a group home or intermediate care facility. RTC's assist residents in becoming more independent and helping improve each resident's overall quality of life by encouraging resident participation in daily living skills, as well as social/recreational activities.
The Fort Lauderdale campus has the following shifts available:
- 1st shift (6:00 am to 2:30 pm)
- 2nd shift (2:00 pm to 10:30 pm)
- 3rd shift (10:00 pm - 6:30 am)
*five (5) of seven (7) days each week including weekends, on a rotating days-off schedule.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with feeding, bathing, toileting, and other areas of personal care.
- Resident Interaction: Engage individuals in social interactions and activities.
- Individual Plans (IPs): Follow IPs for each individual.
- Behavior: Follow individual behavior programs as prescribed in individuals' IP.
- Housekeeping: Laundry, sweeping, dusting, mopping, kitchen clean-up, etc.
- Miscellaneous: You may be expected to perform other duties, including but not limited to hospital sitting, transporting individuals in ASC vans to recreational outings, shopping, and medical appointments, preparing meals, distributing medications (in the Group Homes), as directed. You may be asked to work in other houses/shifts as needed, based on resident needs. Overtime may be required.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and a minimum of 3 yrs of driving experience (except for midnight positions)
- One year of verifiable working experience, preferred, with individuals receiving services in medical, nurse’s aide experience, psychological, childcare setting or with the developmentally disabled; college or vocational (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours or 720 classroom hours) hours may substitute for experience
- Experience working with challenging behaviors is a definite plus.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must pass a Background, Drug screening, Physical and PPD
- Position involves lifting and/or transferring up to 50 lbs. bending, squatting, and other physical exertion for up to six hours per day
