Responsibilities 

• Support and implement a wide range of strategic communications and issue campaigns for our high profile, globally-recognized clients
• Provide the highest level of client service through proactive account management, while also managing staff (both senior and junior) to successfully maintain and grow client relationships
• Produce and edit high-quality written deliverables, such as issue backgrounders, white papers, messaging toolkits, op-eds, strategic memos, and social media content often under tight deadlines
• Counsel clients on complex policy issues, and develop compelling content to convey these issues to the general public
• Participate in the development of multi-faceted, integrated communications and issue campaigns to position client issues and priorities with key audiences that may include elected officials, media, consumers, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders
• Monitor developments in key client issue areas and flag opportunities for further client engagement
• Participate in opportunities for organic client growth, maintaining strong relationships with key clients and growing APCO’s profile within their networks
• Participate in business development activities including writing proposals and developing pitch decks
• Support internal marketing and business management efforts

Qualifications 

• At least 2-3 years of policy, communications, or advocacy work
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Exceptional writing and analytical skills, including the ability to write strategically and creatively under tight deadlines and communicate complex policy issues in accessible, plain-English terms
• Excellent client and interpersonal skills; ability to manage client relationships and communicate effectively by phone, email, and in-person
• Strong presentation skills including briefing senior-level clients and/or colleagues
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, as well as prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
