Overview
SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE
The Pumping-Maintenance Technician will require the active maintenance and repair of all pumps, data vans, heavy haul trucks and lite haul equipment to include both electrical and mechanical components.
Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Examine, analyze and troubleshoot equipment for defects in operation
- Repair Frac Pumps, Acid Transports, Winch Trucks, Power Generators, Diesel Engines, Vehicles and Trailers
- Understand Electronic Technologies that operate frac ready equipment including data vans, pressure pumping equipment, winch trucks and current market pumps
- Preventative maintenance on power generators, diesel engines, vehicles and trailers
- Repair and maintain hydraulic fracturing equipment (including trucks, frac pumps, data vans and other oilfield equipment)
- Troubleshoot power and fluid end pumping systems and related pump equipment to ensure proper function.
- Perform diagnostic checks using computer technology and observational methods.
- Build, repair, swing, test power/fluid ends for frac trucks.
- Repair damaged equipment to required OEM standards.
- Ensure fleet and other equipment functions properly
- Diagnose the source and extent of a problem
- Determine mechanical, electrical and fuel problems, and make necessary repairs
- Ability to assume responsibility, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical systems AC and DC
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Receive, inspect and stock required inventory including filters, belts, hoses, and general mechanical repair parts.
- Create accurate parts lists and track inventory used.
- Dismantle or partially dismantle equipment, pumps, valves and fittings
- Tests function of pumps and other mechanical units to assure efficiency of operations
- Installs repaired equipment at sites, observes operations, and readjusts components, as necessary
- Coordinate system shutdowns and perform lockout/tag out
- Start/stop equipment and perform equipment checks
- Calibrate sniffers and accurately complete calibration logs
- Perform PSM work and hot work
- Monitor safety and regulatory compliance.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Qualifications
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES – Education / Knowledge / Skills and Abilities
- Wide range of knowledge with rotating equipment.
- Self-motivated.
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of safety awareness in performing all job duties.
- Knowledge of construction equipment with a basic understanding of schematics and diagrams.
- Able to perform diagnostic checks using computer technology.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Ability to self-direct as required and perform work under minimal instruction, receive general direction on new assignments.
- Ability to operate machinery such as forklift and overhead shop cranes.
- Willingness to participate in Company provided training as needed or required.
- Experience with both diesel and gasoline engines
- Mechanical aptitude, basic math and basic computer skills (spreadsheets and word processing)
- Knowledge of safety rules and practices
- Ability to meet any company or client-required training standards
- Ability to work overtime in 24/7 environment in order to respond to emergency call-outs as needed
- All required permits
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Basic knowledge of plumbing
- Specific (diesel and/or gasoline type) mechanical training preferred with emphasis on diesel engines, power generators, and gasoline combustion engines
- Trade school education and training is preferred
- Experience in a DOT regulated shop is strongly preferred
- Experience doing DOT brake adjustments and inspections is strongly preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regional visits that may require lifting some boxes/parts, walking yard
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and must be worn when on yards & jobsite locations:
- Safety Glasses, Hard hats, FR Clothing and other as required by customer.
- Light to moderate physical effort required
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to manually transport a load up to 80 lbs
- Ability to apply up to 200-foot pounds of torque
- Regularly required to walk, reach and move about the facility
- Work in/around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment
- Required to climb about equipment at various heights and work in confined areas (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels)
- Work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment
- Use of physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools
- Work bending, stooping, standing, sitting, lying down and crouching
- Required to move from ground level to higher levels
- Able to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time
- Able to work around hazardous chemicals and in Oil & Gas Operational conditions
- Ability to be present at field office during denoted work hours, which may be altered occasionally to accommodate delivery of programs
- Ability to read, communicate verbally and/or in written form, remember and analyze certain information, instructions and guidelines
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
