CITY OF GLENN HEIGHTS Groundskeeper Salary in the United States

The City of Glenn Heights is seeking applicants for a Full-Time Groundskeeper.

Perfectly positioned along IH-35 East, Glenn Heights is a hospitable, business-friendly, rapidly growing community divided between Dallas and Ellis counties. The City has a total area of 7.2 sq. miles (18.8 km sq.) with more than 50% of the city's developable land is located along major arterial intersections that are available for retail and office development.

The Groundskeeper is responsible for, under direct supervision, performing seasonal duties related to the maintenance and beautification of the parks and trees, street medians, right-of-ways, ditches, and other city facilities.Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential duties and functions may include the following.  Must possess required knowledge skills, abilities and experience and to be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Other related duties may be assigned.  
 
Performs landscaping activities by operating various pieces of equipment including mowers and other landscaping tools; plants and trims shrubs, trees and flowers.

Operates weed eaters and zero turn riding mowers to perform mowing operations and brush removal in City right-of-way, parks and other locations.

Maintains the city right-of-way by removing litter and illegally dumped items. Regularly monitors areas known for illegal dumping.

Removes debris caused from extreme weather conditions such as fallen trees, inlets, curbs and gutters and interacting with other city employees and citizens.

Appropriately disposes of litter and debris.

Performs regular inspections and preventative maintenance (including washing, checking and servicing) all equipment.  

Confers with citizens regarding problems and reports feedback to supervisor.

Performs other general maintenance or groundskeeping activities as assigned. 

Basic knowledge of lawn care and general landscaping; Ability to work independently; Ability to safely operate assigned equipment including chainsaws, weed eaters, lawn mowers, tractors, blowers, edgers and other lawn tools; Works safely in close proximity to high-speed vehicle traffic along medians, right-of-way, and other city property; Basic understanding of customer relations practices; Basic skills to communicate clearly and concisely; Basic understanding of City safety rules and operating procedures.Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Up to six (6) months' experience in groundskeeping or general maintenance (preferred)

The incumbent performs work in an outdoor environment with exposure to hazardous and unpleasant conditions in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings and inclement weather; some exposure to dust, odor, electrical, mechanical, and toxic hazards

Work requires frequent stooping, standing, walking, sitting, twisting, pulling, pushing

May be required to lift up to one hundred (100) pounds of equipment multiple times per day
