What does a Early Care and Education Behavior Specialist do at companies like EDUCATIONAL SERVICE DISTRICT 112?

Under supervision of the Education and School Readiness Manager, the ECE Behavior Coach will provide technical assistance to teaching staff, Family Support Specialists and Center Directors. The Behavior Coach will identify and model skills necessary to support students as they develop executive function and social-emotional skills, consulting with the classroom team and the family to integrate all disciplines into a comprehensive approach for all students.

Essential Functions:
  1. Use skill, knowledge and expertise in trauma informed practices when supporting children as well as adult learners.
  2. Use a strength-based approach to building relationships with a focus on perspective taking, data analysis, and solutions that build on people's strengths while addressing needs.
  3. Work collaboratively with instructional leadership teams across settings and age groups to strengthen social emotional instructional practices.
  4. Provide coaching and role modeling to classroom staff.
  5. Provide individualized support, as needed, to children with delays, disabilities as well as those impacted by trauma.
  6. Assist with the development and implementation of classroom plans to strengthen environmental and instructional interactions.
  7. Assist with the development and implementation of positive behavior plans to support individual children who require additional support to be successful in the classroom and to teach them new social and self-regulation skills.
  8. Collaborate with families and community partners to coordinate services and next steps.
  9. Assist in collecting child and family outcome data.
Other Functions:
  1. Maintain documentation in the program database.
  2. Participate in a multi-disciplinary case conferencing team.
  3. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Education, Human/Social Services, Human/Community Development or related field and experience working in a child care setting.
  2. Experience providing instruction and training.
  3. Training and/or experience in implementation of Positive Behavior Supports.
  4. Experience in working with children birth to twelve years of age in a child care, and or group setting.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Experience with ECEAP and Head Start Performance Standards.
  2. Experience working with child care licensing regulations.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  1. Regular travel within SW Washington to attend appointments, meetings and training sessions. Occasional travel throughout the state.
  2. Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
  3. Occasional work on evenings.
Employment Requirements - ESD job offer is contingent upon satisfying the following:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history check and fingerprint check through the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
  2. Tuberculosis test to meet state health requirements.
  3. Health Exam.
