Job Summary:

Summary:
Provides leadership in the stockroom on all aspects of backroom operations, to include standards, processing, flow to the floor, merchandising and customer experience. The Stock Manager oversees all aspects of the stock room and holds responsibility for achieving all customer service and sales goals as defined by the Store Manager by performing the following duties:

  • Supports and ensures execution of all shipment receiving and processing procedures to floor-ready standard responsible for overall stockroom organization.  

  • Oversees replenishment process, and provides Store Manager with feedback. 

  • Communicates daily goals and priorities to stock employees; redirects activities as necessary to achieve productivity standards 

  • Supports and ensures execution of all shipment receiving and processing procedures to floor-ready standard responsible for overall stockroom organization.  

  • Supervise the merchandise handling processes, and all non-sell and stock associates 

  • Performs audit and transfers of damaged and defective merchandise, RTVs, etc. 

  • Ensures online orders and in-store customer pick-up orders are fulfilled accurately and within identified SLA timelines. 

  • Tracks productivity and ensures team meets merchandise handling standards. 

  • Directly manages multiple stock room employees. 

  • Provides feedback to floor management regarding merchandise handling concerns. 

  • Communicates staffing requirements to management and ensures stock room team is properly staffed, with responsibilities including interviewing and hiring.

  • Partners with Store Manager and HR regarding stock employees’ performance including policy violations and other disciplinary matters; addresses in a timely manner. 

  • Trains, directs and coaches stock employees. 

  • Coordinates stock employees'  breaks and shift change schedules to maximize productivity and remain in compliance. 

  • Upholds all company policies as outlined in Policy and Procedure. 

  • Maintains all shipment related paperwork to meet audit requirements. 

  • Manages shipment supplies and fixtures. 

  • Maintains company standards of neat, clean and organized stockroom

  • Ensures stock room is kept safe and remains in safety compliance at all times.  

  • Follows all Loss Prevention  policies as they relate to back room standards and communicates violations to management.

  • Full schedule availability including weekends and overnight shifts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; degree from a four-year college or university preferred and 2 - 4 years of retail experience, preferably with experience managing inventory and stock related duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Should have basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or Google Suite equivalents.

  • Requires an open availability, including availability during the hours necessary to open and close the store, which includes mornings, days, and nights.

  • Minimum standard of a 40 hour work week.

  • Minimum standard work week of 5 days.

  • Requires availability on weekends and holidays

  • Punctuality and regular attendance consistent with the company’s policies are required for the position.

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Must speak English clearly in order to converse with customers and effectively supervise staff.

  • Must be able to read and write English and perform business-related mathematics in order to carry out normal business and understand corporate sales reports.


 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Requires standing approximately 5 to 14 hours per day. 

  • During peak sale periods (e.g. Holiday, Back-to-School), will work for long periods throughout a 4 – 14 hour day.

  • Requires stooping and kneeling to place merchandise on customer’s feet as well as reaching and pulling to obtain or stock merchandise on storage racks.

  • May be required to climb a ladder or ascend/descend stairs in order to stock and/or acquire merchandise for sale.

  • Required to lift items weighing 5 – 25 lbs regularly.  In certain circumstances, weights may be higher.

  • Must have good vision, including color differentiation.

  • The work environment for this position is a moderately noisy retail setting.
