SUMMARY: Responsible for planning the monthly, weekly, and daily tasks of staff, organizing the workflows for efficiency, directing the staff to meet objectives, controlling the staff and related output to meet productivity and quality standards, staffing and developing the department to achieve objectives. Position reports to the Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collections.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the overall maintenance and stewardship of accounts receivable in a multi-company environment.
- Establishes daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and related timetables for accurate and complete postings.
- Establishes productivity targets.
- Ensures the AR team is complying with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Responsible for continuous improvement and innovation in all accounts receivable functions.
- Supervises, mentors and guides a team of two accounts receivable professionals.
- Directs, prepares and analyzes monthly reconciliations, including the monthly reconciliation of bank, credit card and PayPal accounts.
- Identifies and advises Manager on training improvements, outside courses or certifications that may be implemented within the team.
DUTIES:
- Reviews, analyzes and recommends improvements in data and work flow.
- Assists with IT system implementations and any adjustments to policy and process.
- Participates in daily activities to insure efficiency and compliance with daily objectives.
- Analyzes and resolves customer account issues and discrepancies.
- Prepares general journal entries, debit memos and credit memos as may be required.
- Reviews daily, weekly and monthly performance statistics and key performance indicators and provides constructive recommendations for Manager.
- Identifies and resolves problems and suggests corrective procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must have an associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree in Business - Accounting preferred; minimum 1+ years’ experience in a supervisory role
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient with Excel and general ledger systems and software, with a preference for Microsoft GP; must be able to multi-task and adjust to new situations quickly; must have excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written; must have a proven ability to recruit, lead, mentor, evaluate and develop staff; must be extremely detail- oriented and have a positive attitude.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Individual must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, team focused environment with tight turnaround deadlines.
