What does an Carrier Relations Associate do at companies like HPONE?

HPOne, named CT Magazine’s 2018 Great Places to Work, is looking for a Carrier Relations Associate to join our team.

The Carrier Relations Associate will provide support to the contracting and licensing department through tracking and reporting a variety of carrier information.  This role will require regular interaction with both internal and external contacts and will play an integral role in building carrier relationships. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Research potential insurance carriers including:
    • Product and state availability
    • Requirements around appointment process, enrollment platform
    • Commission schedules
  • Work with carriers on self-enrollment feature integration to include all product lines: Medicare Advantage, Prescription Drug, Medicare Supplement, and Ancillary
  • Work with both internal compliance and marketing teams as well as carrier contacts to ensure necessary Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approvals are made in a timely manner for any new enrollment and/or website platforms
  • Assist with building client/carrier relations through regular communication
  • Understand all available reporting by carrier and aid in determining the most applicable and beneficial to HPOne
  • Provide daily updates to the VP of Carrier Relations on the status of all carrier initiatives, including outstanding approvals and database content
  • Organize and track all carrier commission schedules and contract addendums electronically
  • Assist with coordination of call center carrier face-to-face trainings throughout year with sales leaders, carriers and site admins
  • Provide support to applicable pharmacy initiatives, including carrier research, when necessary
  • Assist with planning and coordination of annual Insurance Expos during AEP kick-off events
  • Gather all compensation schedules and other carrier specific information and track in internal database
  • Track all bonus incentive opportunities by carrier and regularly report on HPOne’s agents’ rank with each
  • Assist with tracking and reporting of all carrier co-op marketing and lead subsidy fundings
  • Assist with and provide necessary support for all carrier related corporate initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years in a sales or client services-oriented support role
  • Understanding of Medicare principles as they pertain to the sale of Medicare products
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Proven ability to manage projects and process through completion
  • Proven ability to learn and execute multiple processes and to be proactive in identifying potential obstacles in completing a task… Out-of-the-Box thinker!
  • Very strong interpersonal/verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Adaptable to change and fast paced environment
  • Experience automating processes and identifying efficiencies to be gained

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • 3+ years Medicare Insurance carrier experience
  • Familiarity with insurance carrier commission schedules
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, typically in a cubicle environment (constant noise, fluorescent overhead lighting)
