SUMMARY
The Nurse Manager assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the facility. Collaborates with facility Administration and with all department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Collaborates with all departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including governing agencies such as Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) and the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manages all nursing staff
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the APD and ACHA. Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities. Ability to make presentations before top management, public groups, and staff. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND CREDENTIALS
Must possess a current Florida license as a Registered Nurse and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Two years of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting, a minimum two years' experience in nursing administration and preferably experience with the Developmentally Delayed. Must possess and demonstrate a high degree leadership, organizational ability, and communication skills. Current CPR certification is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Teach APD and ACHA Medication Administration to new staff as well as staff who need retraining. Do TB testing to new hires and yearly for residential staff. Monitor tracking system to ensure residents are getting the health care required as well as needed. Continues to update policies when outdated.
Must be available on an "on-call" basis or when needed have another nurse take the "on-call" so a nurse is available to Directors or RSS in emergencies.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and efficiently with families, staff members and the general public.
Knowledge of life-safety and infection control protocols.
General knowledge of behavioral management practices.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to recognize and assess unsafe/hazardous conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
