What does an K12 Sales Representative I do at companies like LEARNING SCIENCES INTERNATIONAL?

The Sales Representative 1 (SR1) is a sales role responsible for responding to inquiries, prospecting and cultivating partnership opportunities within schools and small to medium size school districts. The SR1 focuses on customer acquisition by email and phone for conferences, events, books, and virtual professional development solutions. Performance is measured by the acquisition of new customers.  KPI (Key Performance Indicators) for this role are: personal sales performance, team sales performance, and personal performance.

Essential Duties:

  • Acquire new customers for Learning Sciences International
  • Qualify both outbound and inbound sales inquiries
  • Qualify leads from digital campaigns, conferences, references, tradeshows, etc.
  • Cold calling; making multiple outbound calls to potential clients
  • Maintain an in-depth analysis of competing products
  • Present information to potential clients, providing compelling product demos to customers (exclusively online)
  • Understand client needs, offering solutions and support
  • Answer potential client questions and follow-up call questions
  • Track weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance and sales metrics (activities & results)
  • Build pipelines with practice/product partners and team members to close sales
  • Maintain database (Salesforce, CRM, Excel, etc.) of prospective client information
  • Close sales and work with client through closing process
  • Work effectively in a team and contribute to team goals
  • Ability to have conversations with decision makers about improving classroom instruction and leadership

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST). Longer hours, evenings and weekend will be necessary to accommodate customer needs.

Travel

This position requires no travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a tele-sales or inside sales environment
  • Minimum of one year of experience selling technology, books, events and professional development solutions
  • Proven Success delivering compelling software demonstrations
  • Ability to discover instructional leaders' needs and align them with LSI solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong opportunity qualification and opportunity tracking skills
  • Proficient with MS Office products, CRM Systems and Internet research
  • Excellent teamwork, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Working knowledge of the K12 buying cycle and funding sources for instructional solutions
  • Former Teacher or Educator
  • Proficiency with web-based presentation software
  • Bachelor's degree (Education)
