Job Title: Assistant Production Manager

Reports To: Director, Theater Operations

Job Summary

The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for assisting in all production-related activities for touring performances and rentals. This position also works in tandem with academic programming activities at the J. Scheidegger Center.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in coordinating and overseeing production needs of all events in the J. Scheidegger Center
  • Serves as the primary audio/video technician for touring performances and rentals at the J. Scheidegger Center

Service Orientation

  • Assists in ensuring operational readiness of performance systems and equipment
  • Assists in onsite supervision of touring events and rentals

Communication, Collaboration, and Teamwork

  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment
  • Manages the front of house sound station as required

Planning, Organizing, and Accountability

  • Maintains all sound and video equipment
  • Assists in maintaining an inventory system for all production equipment

Initiative, Problem Solving, and Decision Making

  • Assists in the advancement of needs for all professional shows

University Mission

  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications – Required qualifications to effectively perform the job.  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered (additional requirements may be designated by position).

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Bachelor’s degree in theater technology preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a performing arts center or tour preferred
  • Touring experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to use good judgment critical thinking skills
  • Ability to make quick decisions on the fly

Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • General theater conditions
