To continue our solid growth, we are seeking a talented and highly motivated Business Development Manager to join our growing organization.  The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a key role within our North America Commercial team.  In this role you will have a set of dynamic responsibilities to drive awareness, develop the marketplace, drive KOL engagement, and deliver on commercial execution in the assigned territory, Western North America for the Planar Immunoassay Technology Portfolio.  You will work in conjunction with our customer facing team of Account Managers, Lab Service Business Development Managers, Inside Sales, Field Application Specialists, and Field Service Engineers to build a world class experience for our customers.

The Business Development Manager role is critical to our commercial success as we bring new technology to market and bring technology to adjacent markets helping build scientific value for our customers and helping to build commercial positioning, training and guidance to aid product management, marketing, and the sales teams to effectively prospect, sell, and serve customers for these products.  You will own the commercial accountability for the designated portfolio in the Western half of North America and will have primary responsibility to drive revenue generation for the entire product related portfolio for our Planar Immunoassay franchise including but not limited to instruments and consumables.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue to and above AOP for designated portfolio
  • Market development & KOL engagement for assigned territory
  • Document customer engagement and asset management in Salesforce.com
  • Host customer events to promote brand awareness and drive pipeline development
  • Drive commercial demonstration strategy for designated territory
  • Work closely with commercial counterparts to drive opportunities forward and serve our customer base including Account Managers, Field Application Scientists, Inside Sales, and Field Service Engineers
  • Generate leads, qualify marketing qualified leads, and drive opportunities forward for the Planar Immunoassay portfolio
  • Build a strong pipeline, focused on Planar Immunoassay technology
  • Be the “expert” for the designated portfolio for the greater commercial team in Western NA
  • Share market intelligence with the greater product management & marketing teams to advance market positioning and product development
  • Gather, process, and disseminate competitive intelligence and market feedback to the internal and field-based teams
  • Provide weekly/monthly and other ad hoc reporting as required
  • Participate in trade shows, vendor shows and related activities as deemed necessary
  • Prepare and execute Territory Sales Plan and updates as needed

 

 Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Previous documented sales experience in life science research industry serving academic, industrial, medical school, hospital, government, biotech and biopharmaceutical accounts preferred
  • Experience selling Capital Equipment >$50k
  • Must have knowledge of key accounts in assigned territory
  • Must have experience with selling products in the Immunology & Oncology research markets
  • Ability to lift to 60 pounds frequently, walk and or stand up to 8 hours a day, and travel to meet with customers
  • Must be proficient in using MS office, and experience in using a contact information management system
  • Valid driver’s license required

Minimum Experience and Education:

  • PhD in Immunology, Oncology or closely related field and 3 years of customer facing experience or minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences related field and 7+ years’ customer facing experience

Travel Requirements:

  • Overnight travel up to 70% of the time based upon territory
