What does an 17041-Material Handler I do at companies like SIEMENS?

Position Overview:
 
We are looking for a Material Handler to add to our Distribution Center Warehouse within the Siemens Mobility – Customer Service team. This position will be in New Castle, Delaware reporting directly to the Distribution Manager. This person will handle all transfers of material, kits, and supplies. Will be expected to perform any assigned stockroom task as determined by daily requirements for the day to day material operation. The right person needs to be highly organized, have a great attention to detail, and excellent communication and follow-up skills. This person will perform any material-related topics while focusing on EHS.


Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all safety and environmental requirements for the storage and shipping of material, including regulated HazMat
• Use computer applications and computers to maintain accurate material flow transactions. 
• Verifies and maintains stock documents. 
• Performs cycle counting of all material in the stockroom. 
• Unloads, receives, verifies and counts material delivered to warehouse. 
• Packs and ships material back to vendors for repair or replacement. 
• Utilizes small hand tools and may operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet handlers and hand trucks.
 
 
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
 
• High School Diploma, or GED required 
• Experience in a logistics, material management or maintenance planning function.
• Proficient with MS Office application including but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

Other Requirements:
 
• Required travel: N/A
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• The ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining an individual workload.
• The ability to perform job duties with a sense of urgency and focused on safety.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship.
 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
 
• Familiarity with LEAN and Six Sigma concepts
• Experience with SAP
• The preferred candidate will have experience in the railway industry or corresponding experience in a related field.
