Description

The Bartender I is to responsibly sell and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and cigarettes in a friendly and professional manner to the casino customers. This position plays a major role in a guest’s bar experience. A bartender must be friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills. A bartender should be organized and able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure. This position will perform other tasks such as but not limited to handling cash, taking orders, delivering orders, cleaning work areas, stocking product and counting inventory. The Bartender shall perform all functions in accordance with applicable laws and gaming regulations, as well as established policies and procedures of the department as well as the Casino.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is a list of the essential duties/responsibilities.

  1. Welcome each guest personally within 30 seconds.
  2. Assess customer’s needs and preferences and make recommendations.
  3. Takes beverage orders from guests and servers.
  4. Shall have complete knowledge of the Casino’s beverage preparations or understand where to find the recipes.
  5. Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times. Make guests feel appreciated through bartender’s actions.
  6. Learn guests’ names, occupations and favorite drinks.
  7. Interact with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks.
  8. Must have an enthusiastic approach to provide an excellent guest experience.
  9. Be attentive! Offer assistance before the guest has to ask for it.
  10. Shall be responsible for the quality and timeliness of ordered menu items by the customers.
  11. Follow all Oklahoma ABLE laws and requirements as well as policy.
  12. Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age.
  13. Maintain side-work to ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the bar.
  14. Report to work in a neat and clean uniform. Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential and expected.
  15. Attends all scheduled team member meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
  16. Place current bar tabs in front of guests at all times.
  17. Serve alcohol responsibly.
  18. Performs other related duties as assigned supervisor.
  19. Records drink orders accurately and immediately upon receipt into the P.O.S.
  20. Accepts guest and customer payments, processes credit card charges and makes change (if applicable).
  21. Washes and sterilizes glassware.
  22. Prepares garnishes for drinks and replenishes snacks and appetizers for guests and customers.
  23. Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner that fosters efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  24. Clears and resets tables and chairs in bar area.
  25. Presents drink menus, makes recommendations and answers questions regarding beverages.
  26. Maintains cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
  27. Receives and serves food orders to guests and customers seated at the bar.
  28. Reports all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to manager.
  29. Accepts various methods of payments, processes credit/debit charges and makes change when applicable.
  30. Responsible for making change out of issued banks.
  31. Insure compliance with legal requirements for the serving of alcoholic beverages.
  32. Any additional duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager, Food and Beverage Director, and/or Casino General Manager/Director.
  33. Creates and ensures a fun filled, entertaining and exciting environment.
  34. Incorporating an on-stage personality while serving guests drinks for extended periods of time.
  35. Ensures guest satisfaction, drink quality, and cleanliness.
  36. Has knowledge of common drinks being served, ingredients, and prices.
  37. Answer questions about drinks and up-selling recommendations upon request.
  38. Explain how various drinks are prepared, describing ingredients and mixing methods.
  39. Inform guests of daily drink specials.
  40. Check guest’s identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  41. Attempt to limit problems and liability related to guests excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading guests to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated guests.
  42. Provide information regarding Sac & Fox Nation, casinos, restaurants, directions to other destinations, schedules of activities, and any other information needed by the guests.
  43. Project a positive and friendly attitude at all times.
  44. A good sense of style.
  45. Excellent stamina.
  46. Great facial projection.
  47. Confidence and positive attitude.
  48. Properly represent Sac & Fox Nation in person and/or printed advertisement.
  49. Must be flexible, versatile, neat, adaptable, dependable, hardworking, and good at taking directions.
  50. Must be able to converse without the use of profanity and have solid working knowledge of the English language.
  51. Maintain appearance throughout employment. Must have approval to alter appearance or make dramatic changes (i.e. tattoos, piercings, hairstyle or color change).

Qualifications


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • The ability to read and understand either written or verbal instructions in English is required.
  • Prior restaurant experience is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be 21 years of age or older.
  2. Able to obtain an Oklahoma Able Commission Liquor License and a Sac & Fox Nation Liquor License.
  3. Able to obtain a Learn2Serve on premises alcohol certification or other approved equivalent certification.
  4. Ability to perform assigned duties in highly interruptive conditions with consistent pressure.
  5. Must have developed strong interpersonal skills.
  6. Must have excellent verbal communication with team members to include respectfulness.
  7. Must have excellent attitude and customer service experience to deal with both internal and external customers (internal is all team members of the Casino & Gaming Commission; external are the Casino’s customers, vendors, and other government entities.
  8. Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment.
  9. Knowledge of OR the ability to learn to operate the food preparation and other equipment used in the Bar.
  10. Works cooperatively and fosters teamwork by helping team members with essential functions.
  11. Ability to obtain Gaming License from the Sac and Fox Nation Gaming Commission.
  12. Availability to work any shift, start time, weekends, and holidays.
  13. Legally able to work in the United States.
  14. Maintain professional appearance.
  15. Ability to obtain Food Handler’s Certification through Indian Health Services.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret the policies and procedures of the department and Casino. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, management, team members and/or the Gaming Commission.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
