Job Description Objective of Position: Prepares and finishes metal surfaces of trailers in preparation for painting process. Principal Responsibilities: Follows surface preparation specifications on trailers and accessories. Follows supervisor/assistant supervisor's instructions. Uses blasting equipment to remove rust, carbon, mill scale and weld spatter. May be required to use buffers and chippers etc. to clean hard to reach areas. Handles and utilizes all material used in the blast areas in a safe manner. Applies primer and topcoat to trailers Repairs paint on trailers Operates overhead crane in a safe manner. Is familiar with all equipment used and is responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep. Advises supervisor of any problems with sandblasting equipment or trailers. Monitors supplies needed in area and updates supervisor as necessary.
