The Area 51 Research Center is a private clearinghouse for information about Area 51, government secrecy and certain UFO claims. Our primary means of distribution is the World Wide Web at http://www.ufomind.com. The Research Center consists of three full-time employees and a loose-knit network of researchers. Most of our work is done in Las Vegas and elsewhere. Our free internet service is partly funded by our retail and mail order book business here in Rachel. We sell only books we have confidence in and that we would buy ourselves. We do not sell most "alien" merchandise, which we believe is incompatible with serious research. If you are interested mainly in souvenirs, we suggesting visiting the Quik Pick or Little A'Le'Inn here in town. We believe that a few of the stories about UFOs at Area 51 deserve serious attention. However, we think most of the claims made by visitors along the "Alien Highway" are less credible. Routine military exercises and the flares and aircraft lights associated with them account for most of the "UFOs" people see here. Like most other people in Rachel, none of us here have ever seen a UFO. Feel free to ask us any questions you like, but we may have to answer "I don't know," to many of them. No purchase is necessary to visit here, but any products you buy will help fund our continued research.

What Skills Does a person Need at Area 51?

At Area 51, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  2. Presentation: Presentation conveys information from a speaker to an audience. Presentations are typically demonstrations, introduction, lecture, or speech meant to inform, persuade, inspire, motivate, build goodwill, or present a new idea/product.
  3. Sales Development: Devising and strategizing new sales operations and processes to drive higher profitability.
  4. Prospecting: Prospecting is the first stage of the geological analysis (second – exploration) of a territory. It is the physical search for minerals, fossils, precious metals or mineral specimens, and is also known as fossicking. Prospecting is a small-scale form of mineral exploration which is an organised, large scale effort undertaken by commercial mineral companies to find commercially viable ore deposits. Prospecting is physical labour, involving traversing (traditionally on foot or on horseback), panning, sifting and outcrop investigation, looking for signs of mineralisation. In some areas a prospector must also make claims, meaning they must erect posts with the appropriate placards on all four corners of a desired land they wish to prospect and register this claim before they may take samples. In other areas publicly held lands are open to prospecting without staking a mining claim.
  5. Products and Services: Knowledge of the full array of our organization's products and services including those that are created for internal customers; insight into the differentiating factors that distinguish them from those of competitors.
