Two major functions of the Patient Account Representative (PAR) are patient billing and customer care inquiries. Depending on setting, the PAR may only perform billing and/or patient care inquiries, while in other settings, the PAR may perform both. In all settings, the PAR will perform additional duties, as assigned. PAR establishes and assigns financial responsibility and/or assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures. In addition to collection of co-payments, pre-payments, and/or payments on account balances. May also work through the appropriate queues to address and resolve issues specific to insurance, including work queue errors, denied insurance claims, and maintenance of the patient system.
