The Bethesda Fire Department, Inc. (BFD) helps save lives three ways in cooperation with Montgomery County's Fire and Rescue Services and with thanks for your tax-deductible contributions. BFD's resources and expertise augment the equipment, maintenance and general care of County professional firefighters who operate from BFD three fire stations. We encourage fire prevention through education and service. Our classic 1926 American LaFrance Engine, BFD's first pumper, livens up community events. BFD, a 501c3 organization, owns and maintains three fire stations. Station 6, BFD headquarters, is at the prominent corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Bradley Boulevard. Station 26 sits along Democracy Boulevard next to I270. Station 20 is on Old Georgetown Road at Cedar Lane. BFD is led by a volunteer community-based board of directors. Most board members represent residential constituent communities of Bethesda and Chevy Chase like Somerset, Wyngate and Edgemoor, and the business community through the BCC Chamber of Commerce.
