The Gridley Museum Corporation is dedicated to collection, preservation, and education of the historical development of Gridley and surrounding areas during the 19th and 20th centuries. This collection strives to connect a rich multi-cultural history of the area and the communities that exist today. The Gridley Museum is located in the old Veatch Building in historic downtown Gridley. Our beautiful building was built in 1909 by developer H. C. Veatch to be used as a bank with rooms for real estate and insurance offices. It has rooms upstairs that were used by Dentists, Doctors, and Attorneys. Our building has seen many changes through out the years. The building itself has been a Bank, the home for the reclamation district and several dress shops. It features 15 ft. ceilings with original tin tiles. The front facade has been opened up to large showcase windows. It still bears the elegant structure of the past. The Museum was the dream of several members of the Gridley Rotary Club. After much money was raised, the Rotary club bought the building and began to collect history. The club eventually sold the property to the City of Gridley. The Gridley Museum Corporation is now a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and operating independently from its original parent, is funded strictly with donations and memberships. Without Rotary's foresight, Gridley would not have a museum. The ever changing exhibits have been collected to depict an earlier life in Gridley. When you visit, you will find information on early families, farming, and business life.
