The Alpena County Home Improvement Program is offered on a county-wide basis to assist homeowners rehabilitate their home. The program has been designed to address the single-family housing needs of low income residents within Alpena County. All units receiving home improvement funds must be owner-occupied homeowners with income at or below 80% of area median income. The program is offered on a first come, first serve basis. All applicants will be considered on an equal basis. To be eligible for complete rehab or an emergency repair, the applicant must own the single-family home for which they are seeking funds and be able to provide proof of ownership. The home must be at least 5 years old and the present owner must have resided in the home for at least 1 year. Taxes and insurance must be current.
