Established in August, 1989 by James Witherspoon, Data Voice, Inc. is an award winning supplier of products and services related to: computer systems sales, service, and support; computer hardware maintenance and repair; LAN/WAN/MAN systems design, installation, and support; Satellite Ground Station Communications; Electronic Sub-Assembly Contract Manufacturing; telemetry digital recording systems; E-Commerce solutions, high speed - high bandwidth Internet Access; project management; CAD scanning and conversion; and computer logistics support. Jim Witherspoon is the President of the company and has nine years of advanced education (Ph.D, M.S.E.E., B.S.E.E., M.B.A.) and formal training in computer architectures and control theory, as well as five years in advanced communications systems engineering experience as an Engineer for Harris Corporation. Data Voice began as one of the first start-up businesses under Brevard Community College's "Small Business Incubator" Program. The company's first major contract required UNIX training for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center in 1989. In 1990, Jim Witherspoon negotiated a leveraged buy-out of Inacomp Computer's Melbourne operations which expanded its OEM partner base through the acquisition of existing manufacturer authorizations and certifications. This enabled DVI to grow as one of Central Florida's leading supplier of computer systems and peripherals and established DVI as the area's leading provider of contract technical service for repair and maintenance of computer equipment. In 1993, DVI secured its first major contract related to technical service and support through the annual depot maintenance subcontract for all PC hardware and peripherals at Patrick Air Force Base and the Cape Canaveral Air Station. Under this subcontract with Computer Sciences Raytheon (CSR), DVI was responsible for approximately 4,000 computer systems used by the U.S. Air Force's 45th Space Wing.
