Consistent with Dialogue's aims to both amplify junior, nontraditional, and underrepresented voices in the public sphere and to serve as a venue for a robust conversation about the religious traditions founded by Joseph Smith, the Dialogue editor and board of directors encourages writers who wish to contribute to a journal to contribute their work to the mentorship program. These writers may submit a draft to the editor of Dialogue at [email protected] , who at his discretion will match the writer to a professional in the field. That person will then give the writer feedback and direction, extending from simple comments on a draft to, in some cases, conversation about the writer's work. Upon successful completion of the mentorship program, the author may submit the material to the editor of Dialogue for consideration for publication. Dialgoue's editor and board of directors hope that this program will attract a wider range of voices to publish in Dialogue, but also that it will serve as a model for Dialogue's values of charity, inclusion, and friendliness. Therefore, while we will prioritize submissions from underrepresented groups, we will consider material from any author lacking substantial publishing experience. We hope that the program will lower the barriers of entry into the profound and important conversations about belief, faith, and struggle that Dialogue wishes to foster, and will result in a broader circle of belonging within the Mormon tradition.
