EMPAQ® (Employer Measures of Productivity, Absence and Quality™) was created in 2001 to assist employers in quantifying the costs of poor health, productivity and absence. At that time, there was a critical gap in the area of health and productivity program evaluation; no standardized metrics were available for employers to use to objectively assess their programs™ effectiveness and benchmark against similar employers. For more than a decade, the National Business Group on Health and its large employer members, numerous experts and strategic partners worked to develop, test and validate metrics that would evaluate the programs that directly impacted workforce health and productivity. Overall, EMPAQ® developed metrics in eight program areas: Short-term disability Long-term disability Workers™ compensation Group health Family and medical leave Incidental and integrated absence Employee assistance programs Health management programs As each metric was developed, it went through a rigorous vetting process with numerous experts, including researchers, employers and industry partners. These experts provided detailed guidance on the availability of data for measurement, how to calculate each individual metric and testing the metrics using current, available data. Over the years, EMPAQ® collected data from hundreds of employers and their industry partners to calculate annual benchmarks. During this time period, the original metrics were refined and more metrics related to absence were added. This was done to help employers understand not only overall program performance but the drivers of this performance. In 2014, the National Business Group on Health partnered with Truven Health Analytics to begin collecting employer-specific data and create annual benchmarks. Starting in 2015, employers will be able to submit company-level data to EMPAQ® about their key health and productivity programs and received customized individual reports to show how their programs perform compared to other large employers.

It is the physical search for minerals, fossils, precious metals or mineral specimens, and is also known as fossicking. Prospecting is a small-scale form of mineral exploration which is an organised, large scale effort undertaken by commercial mineral companies to find commercially viable ore deposits. Prospecting is physical labour, involving traversing (traditionally on foot or on horseback), panning, sifting and outcrop investigation, looking for signs of mineralisation. In some areas a prospector must also make claims, meaning they must erect posts with the appropriate placards on all four corners of a desired land they wish to prospect and register this claim before they may take samples. In other areas publicly held lands are open to prospecting without staking a mining claim.
