The Grain Train Market Cafe was born out of a dream to bring our mission of Making a Difference One Bite at a Time into a new sector of the food world. Try as we might, we were not able to see the Cafe reach the potential we believed was there. It is with great sadness that we announce that the Cafe will not be reopening its doors. It was so exciting opening the Cafe just before the 4th of July in 2018. Exciting and maybe a little kooky to open during peak summer season downtown but we couldn't wait to share the Cafe with the world. Once the menu was set, the staff trained, and those beautiful images were up on the walls, we hit the ground running. We learned a lot in the last two years operating the Cafe. Right from the beginning the learning curve was steep, but that didn't stop us. Watching the Cafe become a community hub where Grain Train members, folks in the community, and those visiting our beautiful area would stop for a bite to eat warmed our hearts. When we closed our doors on March 16, 2020, due to the pandemic, we did not know they would not open to the public again. We miss seeing you stop by for a smoothie or a turkey club. Thank you to each and everyone one of you who was a patron of the Cafe. So what's next you might wonder? We are going to continue to embody our mission and the spirit of the cafe in the Petoskey and Boyne City stores. You can still get delicious prepared foods from the Bakery/Deli and a few of your cafe favorites at both stores. We continue to grow our curbside business and we aim to make sure that we remain your trusted source during the pandemic and long beyond. Though this is a sad goodbye, we say it with many fond memories and a bright future ahead of us.
