Holtville Middle School is a middle school that serves grades five through eight. The school is located in Deatsville, Alabama. It is one of the four middle schools in Elmore County. Currently, Holtville Middle School houses approximately 540 students. There are close to 50 faculty and staff members that are employed at the school. Out of these members, the school has one principal, one assistant principal, one school counselor, one media specialist, two intervention teachers, two special education teachers, a school secretary, a bookkeeper, two custodians, one lunchroom manager, four cafeteria workers, and five paraprofessionals. In addition, the school shares a speech pathologist, a music/choir/band teacher, two gifted education teachers, and a school facilitator with another school in Elmore County. Holtville Middle School offers extracurricular activities for its students. These activities include the Junior Master Gardener's Program, choir, band, cheerleading, the dance team, football, softball and basketball. Currently, the school has the 21st Century program, which is an afterschool enrichment program for its students. Students are provided a nutritious snack, have physical activities, get assistance with homework assignments, and are engaged in academic and enrichment activities. In addition, the school has implemented Making Middle Grades Work. This program provides students with effective tools to handle the challenges that middle school students encounter. Also, the program is designed to make the transition from middle school to high school as smooth as possible. As part of this program, students participate in goal setting. Goal setting holds students accountable for their decisions and encourages them to make good choices in an effort to reach their goal.
