The JCCH is fully committed to a tradition of Keruv (outreach and welcoming), especially as it relates to single faith and interfaith families. We warmly welcome those who share our interest in Jewish life built upon our rich traditions and rituals. Along these lines, we are pleased that the fabric of our synagogue transcends congregants who are Jews by birth. We have among our membership a significant and growing number of Jews by choice and supportive non-Jewish spouses and parents. They take advantage of---and contribute significantly to---our spiritual, cultural, educational, community service and recreational initiatives. Programs and classes are widely offered to interfaith families so they can learn from each other's unique experiences while increasing their involvement within our Jewish community. Interfaith families are treated as full family members. The Keruv guidelines at the JCCH are based on those sponsored nationally by the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. The JCCH proudly takes a progressive stance on interfaith issues while maintaining the halachic (Jewish legal) framework of the Conservative movement. Our Keruv consultants are always available to speak with you, as is Rabbi Glazer, about how interfaith couples are warmly welcomed "under our tent" at the JCCH.
