In 1991, Mississippi United to End Homelessness (MUTEH) began its mission to end homelessness in the state of Mississippi by providing the homeless population with appropriate housing, a connection to community resources, while stabilizing clients during the transitional period. MUTEHs humble beginnings started within the Multi-County Community Service Agency in Meridian, MS. In 2008 after receiving its 501c3 non-profit status, MUTEH rose to its position as the Lead Agency for both the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) database, and the Mississippi Balance of State Continuum of Care(CoC) community plan. From 2009 to 2012, MUTEH was a recipient of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) stimulus funds designated for Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Programs. Since then, MUTEH has maintained its position as HMIS and CoC Lead Agency and continues to progress as a top Non-Profit in the state of Mississippi, working to serve and house vulnerable populations. In 2018, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Department of Veterans Affairs confirmed that the Mississippi Balance of State Continuum of Care, with MUTEH being the lead agency, effectively ended homelessness among Veterans. MUTEH continues to partner with organizations on local and state levels, as well as within cities around the state in a constant effort to serve the hardest-to-reach populations and put an end to homelessness. MUTEHs mission is identify, engage, serve, and advocate for vulnerable populations in the state of Mississippi, while providing research-based supportive housing services; promoting affordable housing development; and to collect, analyze, and report on the data variables that guide the mission forward. As an organization, MUTEHs primary objective is transitioning homeless individuals into stable housing while also integrating and connecting them into the community. We Need Your Support Today!
